Converting DV/RDA to IU's
By Dave Wetzel (manufacturer USA)
To Convert %DV/RDA to IU's you need to know the standard established buy the FDA. The common question I receive is the conversation for vitamin A and vitamin D.
100% DV/RDA for vitamin A is 5000 IU's per day
100% DV/RDA for Vitamin D is 400 IU's per day
From this information one can convert any of the products for informational purposes.
Note: The CLO products we sell are truly wholefoods. There are a variety of nutrients and derivatives of the nutrients contained in the oils. In my opinion it is beyond 'how much vitamin A/D is in the product" as I am not sure the question fits the product. If one is speaking of a man made drug then this question is proper as a drug is made with specific metabolites that are naked/without co-factors and other relations.
Example, Dr. Royal Lee discussed over 160 different vitamin A metabolites. So when reporting a vitamin A, which A's does one measure? There are a few metabolites that are prominent in nature, even so, this does not change the discussion. The same issues surrounds vitamin D.
I think the proper discusion should encompass the differences between man made nutrients vs wholefoods, and industrialization of our foods vs historical sacred preparation of our foods. If these are the discussion focus points then there is little benifit to the discussion of how many iu's of this or that is in a product.
There are many attributes that will determine a nutrients efficacy including environmental, genetic, derivatives, co-factors, mind, spirit ect......
