Our TDS (total dissolved solids) meter uses the 442 scale measurement and is temperature compensated.
All chemicals that dissolve in water conduct electricity at different amounts. Most meters are set to measure NaCl (Sodium Chloride) which assumes that 100% of the dissolved solids is sodium chloride. The 442 scale simulates the properties of natural water (rivers, lakes, drinking water, etc.) which is usually a mix of various dissolved solids.
TDS is also greatly affected by temperature, and most TDS meters only accurately work within a small temperature range. This meter measures the temperature of the solution and adjusts the reading accordingly.
